Description
My 1949 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight has never been restored, although I'm sure it would look even better if it were. It has a 303 Overhead Valve Rocket V8 engine. Around 1982 my wife and I began to look for a nice old antique car. One of my wife's co-workers mentioned that her foster mother had a couple of old Oldsmobile's that her husband had owned when he passed away some 14 years prior. Remembering that every 1949 Olds Ninety-Eight I had seen had been one of those huge 4 door models, I told her I was really not interested. The next day her co-worker bought in a photo of the two cars which my wife bought home for me to see. All that was visible of the cars was the very back ends, and when I saw that the 1949 was a fast back style, I told my wife maybe we should go take a look. As it worked out, I took my dad along, and both cars seemed to be in extraordinarily good condition, so I decided to buy the 1949, and my dad bought the 1965 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Brougham 4 door hardtop. I really like the styling of the one I own, and would like to correspond with other owners of cars like it, but they seem to be very few in number. So far, I have only spoken to one other owner of one like it.

Hi Robert,

That is one beautiful vintage 1949 Oldsmobile you have there. I never knew Oldsmobile produced a 1949 Olds Ninety-Eight fastback and certainly have never seen one myself. Nice writeup and the pictures look great. Thanks for sharing!
